Elder Dial was born and raised in a small town in Canada, and entering the mission field is a bit of a shock to him. He’s never been exposed to so many people or new ideas before, but he’s very eager to get to know the other missionaries and his leaders, to learn from them, and to earn their love and respect. Every missionary is expected to obey his leaders, but Elder Dial is even more obedient than most. The handsome kid delights in submitting to the older men who lead the church. It’s almost like he wants to be punished, even though he never breaks the rules. And his leaders can smell this thirst for discipline on the boy, which wakes in them an equal desire to see just how much chastisement his body and spirit can take.
